From a Weekend Experiment to 2.4 Million Users
The Spark
What started as a weekend hackathon project became the seed of something much bigger. Our co-founders — frustrated by bulky, server-dependent facial analysis APIs that demanded account sign-ups and uploaded photos to the cloud — set out to build a free age calculator by photo that ran entirely in the browser. Using TensorFlow.js and the open-source face-api.js library, they built the first working prototype in 72 hours.
Going Public
The prototype was shared on Reddit's r/SideProject and went viral overnight. Within 48 hours, over 50,000 people had used the AI age guesser. The overwhelming response confirmed what the team believed: people wanted fast, fun, and privacy-first AI age estimation — with no strings attached. We officially launched agecalculatorbyphoto.com.
